The history of Sturminster Newton has been told in a recently published book produced by the Sturminster Newton Museum Society. The book comprehensively follows the developement of Sturminster, from the building of its Iron Age fort overlooking a ford on the Stour to the present day. Each chapter of its history is well illustrated by photographs, drawings and maps as well as a number of humorous anecdotes, myths and legends from Sturminster people describing incidents and practices from yesterday.
This book is recommended reading for those with Sturminster roots, either long standing or recent arrivals, or simply those visitors taken by the beauty of this interesting town.
